Can I build a fire pit on an existing concrete patio?
I am bricking over my concrete patio and wondering if I can make a fire pit at the same time. I am thinking of using concrete bricks. Is there anything specific that I need to know? Like, should I lay something on the bottom?
No problem at all. YOu might want to line the bottom with either flag stone or brick..but fires like this are not that hot. I wouldn’t worry about it that much. If you really want to do it up good, go to lumber yard and get Fire Brick to line the bottom. (used in fire places). Build up the sides by setting field stone or whatever. Mortar in place, allow mortar to set about 28 days before firing up.

How to Build a Fire Pit
Do you know what fire pit is? A fire pit is a dug out small pit where you set up a fire and hang out around and chat with other people around you. It is rather a fun and cozy method to get warm also at the very same time helps you increase your relationship with the individuals around the fire.

Building Your Fire Pit
As explained earlier, before you plan to construct a fire pit, you have to find the right and safe spot first. Once you have found a good spot for your fire pit, only then you can begin to build it there. First, you must measure how wide the perimeter of your fire pit. Usually a fire pit should not be too big; the most ideal circumference or perimeter can be in a size of approximately one and a half foot.

You will require some concrete blocks or pavers as well to surround your fire pit with. Building a fire pit is very simple as long as you’re aware of the safety measures and procedures that you need to take.
Measure and put a mark on the place by drawing a rough circle on the ground. You can use a stone or a stick to do so. Once you’re done with the drawing, you can now start with the digging. Dig within the circle lines until about one foot deep. At the center of it, you must dig one more hole and this time with a perimeter of around six or seven inches. It should be about eight to twelve inches deep.
Once you have finished all the diggings, it’s time to fill up the holes. fill the holes with the pea gravel mentioned just now, and then start adding sands approximately three inches at the most top of the pit. The sand must be poured until it reaches the same level with the ground. Once it’s done, you can now cover around the pit with either cement and bricks or stones, or concrete blocks or pavers. You must cover around the circle, not inside it. It would be more fitting if your bricks or pavers are at least 2 stacks high so that it can prevent any logs of burning sticks from rolling.

I have a neat idea for a twist on a conventional fire bowl. But in order to build it I need to find the actual bowl part. I’d like to save money by not having to buy an already built fire pit with legs and everything. Does anyone know where I can find a huge metal bowl for a good price?
